Potion Studios (maya plugin development) haben ein, für fast jeden 3D Grafiker extrem nützliches Maya und 3D Studio Max Plugin veröffentlicht, einen ASCII importer / exporter. Hier ein Auszug aus der Pressemitteilung:
The *.sam file format, short for “sample ASCII model”, is a simple model file format storing meshes and bones inside a text file. The free export/import plugin is available for maya 7 or greater, and 3ds max 9. The file format can be used easily as a simple way to export data in a self explanatory ASCII format.
